A Little Foot Odor Goes a Long Way!
- Each foot contains 250,000 sweat glands and can produce up to a pint of sweat per day.
- Feet perspire when people become nervous, as well as when they are exercising or even walking. In the course of a day, the average foot walks 5 miles.
- If all the Odor-Eaters® insoles that have been sold in the last 25 years were laid toe-to-heel, they would encircle the earth more than twice.
- Nearly one in five people (18%) aged 18 to 64 suffer from foot odor and/or wetness. And more women suffer than men -- 23% versus 13%.
- Only 30% of sufferers realize that foot odor is caused by bacteria. Twice as many -- 60% -- believe it is caused by wearing closed shoes. In fact, colonies of bacteria reside in the darkest, moistest parts of the feet, such as between the toes. As these bacteria digest this sweat, they proliferate and release odoriferous substances.
- Nearly three-quarters (72%) of sufferers of foot odor believe that others have noticed their problem, and about one-half (54%) have been embarrassed by it.
- Nearly three-quarters of sufferers (73%) use a foot deodorant product to prevent odor and wetness from occurring.
